Kenneth Dale Huerd

December 13, 1932 — December 21, 2009

Kenneth Huerd was born in Warroad, MN, to Charles & Clair (Field) Huerd. Both of his parents died very early in their lives and Ken was placed in an orphanage when he was 2 1/2 years old. There were 5 other children: Gladys, Pearl, Earl, Lester, Delores. He lived a very hard life and was placed on farms to help out with farming. He loved to fish and play cribbage. He also liked to work with wood; building porches/decks or whatever was needed. He worked on the cars and loved taking road trips. Ken resided in Pine City for over 20 years. It was actually the only place where Ken lived for a long period of time. He lived out by Pokegema Lake and he truly enjoyed fishing on the lakes close to home. His favorite spot to fish was the Snake River at the Pier in Pine City. After his wife (Mary Jean) passed away in 2001 Ken moved to Hillside Court up until his tragic fall on November 3, 2007 which caused a spinal cord injury and he needed to move to Lakeside Medical Center Nursing Home. He also enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends and enjoyed coloring and painting. He was a good hearted man who was liked and loved by many. Ken Huerd is survived by his daughter Mary Huerd of Rush City, MN; his stepchildren: Stacie Goldschmitz of St. Paul, MN; Ronald Higgins of Blaine, MN; Kellie Higgins of Brook Park, MN; Jay (Lisa) Higgins of Scandia, MN; grandchildren: Karissa, Jesse, Nadine, Cortney, Amanda, Samantha, Ronnie Jr. (Buddy), Sharon, Candice and his sister: Jeanette Davis of Minneapolis, MN Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clair (Field) Huerd, sisters Gladys and Pearl and brothers Earl and Lester.
