Richard Joel Kenowski, Sr. was born June 11, 1960 in Sandstone, Minnesota to Ralph and Madelyn (Duncan) Kenowski. He grew up in the Bruno area and attended school in Askov.
He proudly served and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in September 27, 1979.
Rick was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. He loved riding his Harley and going on trips with his family and friends. He loved snowmobiling, fishing and having beers with friends and family. He was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet and was a friend to all. Your life was definitely made richer by knowing Rick.
He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 49.
Rick died at his rural Pine City home on January 22, 2010 at the age of 49 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barb; children: Christopher (Julie) Kenowski of Marine on the St. Croix, MN, Jason Kenowski of Minneapolis, Jody Kenowski of Hibbing, MN, Ricky Kenowski of Pine City, Amber Van Guilder of St. Paul, and Tiffany (Jason) Van Guilder of Pine City; grandchildren: Andrew, Paige, Dezarae, Dillon, Paytton, Landon, Caleb, Calista, and Justin; father: Ralph Kenowski of Moose Lake, MN; brothers: Ron (Ramona) Kenowski of Cloquet, MN, Randy (Jean) Kenowski of Rock Creek, MN; sisters: Judy (Al) Plaisted of Hibbing, Connie Kenowski of Duluth, MN, Cindy (Aldon) Disterhaupt of Kettle River, MN; many other family members and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his mother Madelyn Kenowski.
A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Swanson Chapel, 665 3rd Avenue S. W., Pine City, MN. Pastor Lyn Sahr will officiate at the funeral service at 4 p.m. Dinner to follow at the Pine City Township Town Hall, Pine County Road 8, located east of Pine City.
