Earl Brown Parrish of Pine City died Tuesday (3/9/2010) at his home on Pokegama Lake at the age of 84 years old.
The son of Carlos and Alice (Williams) Parrish, Earl was born at Long Lake, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school
He worked as a welder at Graco in Minneapolis and he and his wife, Shirleyann, lived in several different Minnesota communities, usually owning a lake home where he enjoyed the fishing. Following his retirement they made their home in rural Pine City.
A veteran of World War II, Earl loved to golf, hunt, fish, won many trophy’s playing horseshoes, and loved any kind of sports, such as basketball, football, etc. During their retirement years he and Shirleyann enjoyed traveling.
Earl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirleyann; children: Linda Dahl of New Ulm, MN, Brent Parrish of Coon Rapids, MN, Glen Parrish of Canby, MN, Deborah (Marvin) Holmes of Grantsburg, WI, Mark (Connie) Parrish of Coon Rapids, Mike Parrish of Cambridge, MN, Larry Parrish of Milaca, MN, Elizabeth Parrish of Bethel, MN, and Robert Parrish of Blaine, MN; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister: Grace Nelson of Lindstrom, MN; brothers: Ray Parrish of Crookston, MN and Paul Parrish of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Alice Parrish, and 21 brothers and sisters.
Rev. Vicki Vander Vegt will officiate at a memorial service for Earl Parrish; at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Honorary casket bearers include the Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51 of which Earl was a member. The interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Nowthen.
