Jerome D. Monthye, 75, of Rush City, passed away Friday afternoon, March 19, 2010 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was born November 11, 1934 in South Dakota, son of the late Ervin and Dorothy Monthye.
Retired at 62, Jerome was actively engaged in his 10th season working at Peterson’s Country Store in North Branch where he helped customers with their spring planting and gardening needs. His knowledge of animals and his love of the land made him a wonderful advisor. He thoroughly enjoyed his position and looked forward to returning each spring.
Beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, Jerome was a gentle soul and a true gentleman. Gone from us far too soon, his kind ways and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who know and love him.
Jerome Monthye is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Jessica Ellis and husband Michael of Kansas, City, Kansas, son Joshua Monthye of Mpls.,granddaughter Joselyn Ellis, sister; Marilyn Harrison and husband Keith of Deadwood, So. Dakota, brother; Ervin Monthye and wife Charlotte of Montana, sister-in-law; Macel Monthye of North Dakota and many nieces and nephews.
A Spring interment and graveside service for Mr. Jerome Monthye will take place in the Mound City Cemetery in Mound City, South Dakota.
