Marvin R. Hinze

Marvin Reuben Hinze, 96, of Pine City, died April 3, 2010 at Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth, MN. Marvin was born on November 30, 1913 in Pine City to Ernst and Helene Hinze.  He graduated from Pine City High School in 1931 and Teacher's College in 1932.  He taught rural school for several years and eventually went on to own and operate the Gamble Hardware store in Pine City. Marvin was married to the love of his life, Thelma Carlson, on June 1, 1939, a marriage that lasted nearly 66 years. They made their home in Pine City and their family grew to include a daughter, Gail Joan.   Marvin was very outgoing and loved to visit and talk with family and friends.  He was an avid gardener and talented woodworker.  He and Thelma enjoyed traveling and took many trips to the North Shore and the western United States. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved very much, and being a devoted husband to his sweetheart and angel, Thelma. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Thelma; his parents, Ernst and Helene; his brothers Hubert, Erick, Ernest and Arnold; and his sisters Helen, Renata and Edna.  He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Gail and Mylan McLean of Eagan; granddaughters Pam McLean of Burnsville and Michelle Plummer (Lance) of Lakeville; great-grandchildren Katie Pliss, Will Brzezinski and Jack Plummer; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7th at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City with Reverend Glen Kleppe officiating.  Interment will be in Birchwood Cemetery.  Visitation is 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
