David Wayne Kelsey, the son of Chester and Lillian (Bemis) Kelsey, was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 26, 1936. The Kelsey family made their home in St. Paul Park and grew to include four boys and two girls.
David attended the local schools and graduated from St. Paul Park High School in 1954. Following graduation he served two years with the United States Army, some of that time he was stationed in Germany. He received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1958.
Upon his return to Minnesota David worked at Docks Blocks and Bartish Packing prior to being employed by the railroad in 1962. He retired from the railroad in 1986, the year he purchased a house on the Snake River and moved to Pine City, Minnesota.
David loved living in the Pine City area. During the golf season he played golf almost every day. He loved sports and played softball and hockey in several leagues in South St. Paul and Newport. Playing cards was another favorite activity of his. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease as well as being teased himself. A kind and good hearted individual, David could be counted on to share anything he had and contributed to many charities.
David is survived by his daughters, Jackie Wienek of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Shannon (Chris) Haines of Red Wing, MN; grandsons: Shane, Nathan and Dillon; sister: Marlene Dombrock of Pine City; brothers: William Deanna) Kelsey of
Florida and Curtis Kelsey of Stillwater, MN; brother-in-law: the Reverend Donald Stanley of Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Lillian Kelsey, his son Patrick, sister Peggy Stanley, and brother Calvin Kelsey.A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 11th at Hustletown Community Church, ( 6 miles east of Pine City on County road #10) with a gathering of friends and relatives 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
