Ruth Ann Peterson

Ruth Peterson was born January 5, 1935 in Crosby Township, Pine County to John Francis & Beatrice (Nelson) Davis. She grew up in the Cloverdale area and graduated from Hinckley High School. One of her first jobs was at the Nash Auto Company in Pine City as an accountant. She met Vernie Peterson, her future Husband, at the Pine Camp Ballroom. October 31, 1954, Ruth and Vernie were married at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City, MN. The couple moved to Harris to reside and their first daughter, Audrey was soon born. In 1957, Ruth and family moved to Fridley where the remainder of the girls were born; Gayle, Sharon and Kathy. Ruth started a career in cooking in 1966when she went to work for Honeywell as a cook and kitchen manager. She was an excellent cook who in addition to her vocation; catered many weddings and graduations. She was famous for her potato salad and chicken salad recipes. Much of her life revolved around food. Another passion for Ruth was the Minnesota Twins! She was an avid baseball fan and in her early years went to many Twins games and took her grandchildren with her. Lately, Ruth was content to watch every Twins game on her television. She also enjoyed traveling and casino trips. Ruth loved her grandchildren and considered them her greatest legacy. Ruth will be sadly missed by her daughters Audrey (Warren) Swanson of Braham, Gayle Peterson of Cambridge, Sharon (Dave) Stocker of Stanchfield, Kathy (Vince) Green of Ham Lake, grandchildren;John (Stacie) Swanson of Braham, Jim Swanson and Amanda Bruggman of Mora, Jason Swanson and Natasha Gross of Braham, Travis Gardner and Chelsey Albrecht of Fridley, Nicole Lee and Mike Geier of Coon Rapids, Erik Lee of Ham Lake, Karli Dahl of La Crosse, WI, great granddaughter Audrina Swanson, brother-in-law Ervin Teich and many nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents John & Beatrice (Nelson) Davis, husband Vernie Peterson, infant sons Charles & Eugene, her sister Arlene Teich and brother Donald Davis. Rev. Tom Stutelberg will officiate at funeral services 3 p.m. Sunday (9/26/10) at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights, MN. Visitaion and reviewal is scheduled for Sunday from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. The interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Harris, MN. sunday evening around 6:30 p.m.
