Sandra Renita Kuka

Sandra (Sandy) Renita Berg Kuka passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010, after a courageous battle with heart disease. She was born January 4, 1938 at Braham Hospital, Braham, Minnesota to Eddie and Ethel (Dahlin) Berg. She grew up in Rush City, Minnesota and graduated from Rush City High School in 1956. Sandy enjoyed playing the flute in high school as well as spending time with friends, especially Darlene Carlson. In 1970, after working in a variety of jobs, she became a chemical dependency counselor and helped many people with addiction for over 30 years. Her lifelong purpose was to always support and guide patients in their recovery. Sandy loved art, music, and animals. She was very creative and artistic from designing jewelry to painting and drawing. She enjoyed music of various forms. She adored and treasured the many pets throughout her life that provided her great comfort and companionship. Sandy always had a special way with animals, particularly dogs. Sandy is preceded in death by parents Ethel (Dahlin) and C. Eddie Berg, and brother, Darcie Berg. Sandy is survived by her daughter, Monica (Joe) Falk of Cedar, MN, grandchildren, Jordan and Ben; son, Scott Berg (Steph) of Newport, MN, grandchildren, Jeremy and Jason, sister, Renae (Gary) Klein of Mora MN, nephews Mike, Mark and Matt Dougherty; aunt; Madelyn Zeney of Mora, many cousins and close friends. We will all miss her love, kindness, generosity, and compassion. Rev. Maria Pederson will officiate at funeral services; 11:00 a.m. Thursday (9/30/10) at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel (19001 Jackson St. N.E.). A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled for 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. The interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery east of Rush City at 2 p.m. Thursday.
