Gerald "Jerry" Marohn

Gerald Hjalmer Wendell Marohn was born February 9, 1940 to George and Grace (Krook) Marohn in Minneapolis, MN. His siblings include Stan, Janice, Elwood and Shirley. Gerald grew up on a farm in the Chisago City area. Later his family would move to Columbia Heights but farming would prove to be Gerald’s hobby throughout his life. Gerald attended Dunwoody Institute and received a diploma in interior decorating. After his graduation he worked painting and decorating for his uncle Vernon Krook and Gray Brothers. Gerald married Marlene Fischer May 9, 1958 and the couple settled in Sunrise, MN. They were blessed with eight children and have lived on a farm north west of Rush City for the past 35 years. In his later years, Gerald enjoyed farming, the outdoors and the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Aerie 2663 in Rush City; where he held various offices including gambling manager and past worthy president. Gerald passed away October 1, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He is 70 years old and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him! Gerald is survived by his wife Marlene; his children: Jerry Marohn of Center City, MN., Richard (Brenda) Marohn of Grasston, MN., Teresa (Ted) Feela of Grasston, MN., Roger Marohn of Rush City, MN., Joel (Deb) Marohn of Brook Park, MN., Brian (Callie) Marohn of Braham, MN., Renee Chute of Grantsburg, WI., & Tyler Marohn of Sturgeon Lake, MN.; his grandchildren: Kortine, Karissa, Richie, DeJay, Travis, Nick, Cerise, Danielle, Kyle, Brian, Colton, Bryce, Jessica, Gavin, Dylan, & Cody; great grandchildren: David John, Austin, Madisson, Mason, Andrea, & Gracie; Sisters: Shirley Zipoy & Janice (Bud) Jay; brother: Stan Marohn and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents George & Grace (Krook) Marohn, brother Elwood, grandsons Korey Marohn & Gannon Marohn, and brother-in-law Allen “Zip” Zipoy. Rev. Vicki Vander Vegt will officiate at funeral services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Olson Funeral Chapel with a time of visitation and reviewal from 11:00 A.M. to !:00 P.M. prior to the funeral on Wednesday. The honorary casket bearer will be Cody Marohn and active casket bearers include DeJay LeMon, Travis LeMon, Nick Feela, Gavin Meyer, Richie Marohn, Colton Marohn, Bryce Marohn and Dylan Marohn with the interment in the Free Mission Cemetery, northwest of Rush City.
