Avis Pangerl passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Ecumen Senior Living in North Branch at the age of 86.

Avis Marlene Pangerl was born on June 25, 1937 to Martin and Alma (Walberg) Falck at home in Edina, Minnesota.

She attended elementary school in Edina and graduated from Rush City High School in 1955. Avis met the love of her life, Rubert Pangerl, at the Greeley Store. She was very proud of her family, which included 5 children; 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Avis worked as a bookkeeper, helped manage and run the farm, and was a rural mail carrier. She retired from the Mora Post Office.

She enjoyed her time with family, visiting with friends, playing cards and cribbage, reading, and completing crossword puzzles. She cooked delicious meals and many sweet treats for family and friends.

Avis was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rush City.

It’s with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a determined, caring, kind, and generous woman. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends; she was very special to all who knew her. We know she’s now rejoicing in heaven with her loved ones.

Avis is survived by her children Kay (Duane) Johnson of Braham, Roxanne (Les) Orvis of Braham, Wendy Tchida of Pine City; 8 grandchildren: Josh (Cassandra) Johnson, Timarie Johnson (Damonn Boone), Kari (Shawn) Olson, Randy (Nicole) Orvis, Ryan (Becca) Orvis, Dustin Tchida, Cody Tchida (Kendal Hendrickson), and Kacie Tchida; 10 great-grandchildren: Jordan Johnson, Carson Johnson, McKenzie Olson, Payton Olson, Alex Olson, Kelvin Orvis, Violet Orvis, Rowen Orvis, Savannah Gudilias, Gabrielle Boone; and many other relatives and friends.

Avis is preceded in death by her parents Martin Falck, Alma Koch and stepfather Ernest Koch; husband Rubert Pangerl; daughter Karen Jean; son Todd Raymond; brother Robert (Doris) Falck; stepsisters Dorothy (Don) Mercier, Elsie (Joe) Zdenek.
