Candie, age 61, born March 29, 1962 in Red Wing was the daughter of Luverne (Bud) Simonson and Evelyn (Evie) Simonson, passed away unexpectedly but very peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on Thursday, October 5, 2023 with her sister Connie Simonson and Candies husband Henry Piercey at her bedside.
Candie loved to cook, read, put puzzles together, and on occasion going to the casino to listen to the band, dance and try her luck on the games, she also loved collecting all sort of bells, but her biggest passion was animals. She loved to take in stray cats to give them a loving, warm home. Her cats were her babies since she was not blessed with children of her own. Candie grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School where she played the trombone in the band and was also in gymnastics and volleyball. After graduating she got hired at Sperry Univac (Unisys) for about 8 years. She had a few jobs before enrolling in pet grooming school where she graduated one of the top of her class. In the years to come she decided to move to Pine City next to her parents. She was hired on at the Grand Casino Hinckley where she started at the RV campground, moved to housekeeping and room service, then to the buffet where she met Henry. They dated for awhile and eventually got married and made their home in Grantsburg, WI.
Candie leaves behind her loving husband Henry Piercey; her 4 beautiful cats: Ruthie, Sissie, Tippie and Munchie that she loved
unconditionally; mother Evelyn (Evie) Simonson; 3 sisters: Connie Simonson, Carrie (Steve) Simonson-Bell, Christie (John) Bloms; 5 beautiful nieces: Christa Simonson-Leifeld, Nicole (Josh) Fairburn, Becca (Ryan) Weber, Paige (Jordan) Vano and their daughter 4 month old Freya Belle Vano; niece Hope (Jake) Gilbertson; plus other relatives and friends.
Candie was preceded in death by her loving father Luverne (Bud) Simonson.
