Candy Stai of Rush City passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at her home at the age of 67.

Candy Rae Davis was born April 21, 1957 to Walter and Donna (Almquist) Davis, Jr. in Hudson, Wisconsin. She was number four of five girls and had one half-sister. She graduated from South High in Minneapolis in 1976. Candy spent time living near the Wisconsin Dells area with two of her sisters and always held a special place in her heart for Wisconsin.

She gave birth to her daughter, Tasha, in May of 1985 and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to raise her. Candy had a very strong and independent spirit. She worked selflessly and tirelessly to support her daughter with the help of her mother and sisters. Candy spent years working in a photo development factory, food service industry, in health care as a nursing assistant, and direct support staff at a day program and group home for individuals with developmental disabilities. Candy had a true heart for people and knew how to brighten someone's day with humor and laughter. She was a pillar of strength, known for her determination, feistiness, loyalty, and humor.

Candy met Marvin Stai in 1990, who became the love of her life and father to Tasha. They shared a life of friends, family, a love for classic rock concerts, and outdoor motorsports. They married on May 27, 2000 and were together until the end. They bought a home in Harris, MN in 2001 which was known for its motocross track and plentiful meals cooked by Candy herself. Candy never just fed her family; she generously fed anyone who came through her door. Everyone left her home with a full belly and good spirits.

Candy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Marvin Stai Jr. of Rush City; daughter Tasha Stai of Rush City; bonus daughters Kimberly Maxwell-Revai of Apple Valley, Amanda Swanson of Minneapolis; siblings Linda (Mike) Dembovsky of Minneapolis, Terri Nagle of Coon Rapids, Claudia (Jim) Larson of Oxford, Wisconsin, Wendy Schneiwind of Minneapolis, Cassandra McGrath of Apple Valley; and sister-in-law Vickie (Chuck) Granat of Webster, Wisconsin. She will live on through love and stories shared by several nieces, nephews, and great niece and nephews on both sides.

Candy was preceded in death by both of her parents Walter and Donna Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law Marvin Sr. and Delia (Champeau) Stai; son Benjamin Stai; sister-in-law Brenda Stai; and aunt Rose Peloquin.

A memorial gathering and service will be held for Candy at 4:00 PM; Saturday, January 18, 2025 with a time for family and friends to gather from 2:00-5:00 PM all at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City, Minnesota.
