Denise DeVall

September 30, 1969 — June 18, 2022

Denise DeVall was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 30, 1969 to James and Barbara Metcalf. Shortly after she was born the family moved from Chicago to Athens, Michigan where Denise would spend the entirety of her childhood. She graduated from Factoryville Christian School and attended Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri for one year.

Denise told everyone she knew that she wanted to marry someone who worked in ministry and become a mom. She met her husband Paul DeVall at Anchor Point Camp in Michigan and they were married in 1990. Denise was the "CEO of the DeVall Household" raising four boys and supporting Paul in every aspect of his ministry. She volunteered countless hours working at Factoryville Christian School, Factoryville Bible Church, and Camp Elvin. In Spring of 2008, Paul and Denise joined Village Missions where they served in Glendorado, Minnesota and now in Wrenshall, Minnesota. And while Paul was the employee of the churches, Denise put in more than full time hours serving in these ministries.

Denise loved spending time with her four boys and their spouses and grandkids.  She loved watching sports, especially baseball. She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and cheered them on through thick and thin. She had a love for Jesus that was contagious and she showed that especially by her love for those around her. She was known as "mom" to many of her boys' friends. She made everyone feel welcome at her home and often invited those who had nowhere to go for holidays over to join her family.

Denise passed away suddenly at the age of 52 in the hospital in Everett, Washington. She is now in the presence of Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where she was greeted with the words "Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant."

Denise is survived by her loving husband Pastor Paul DeVall of Wrenshall; children Andrew (Nicollete) DeVall of Pine City, Aaron (Sally) DeVall of North Branch, Adam (Grace) DeVall of Pillager, Alex (Deanna) DeVall of Bemidji; father James Metcalf of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren Lydia DeVall, Maggie DeVall; siblings James (Jennifer) Metcalf of Byron Center, MI; niece Jocelyn; nephew Josiah; many other relatives and friends.

Denise was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Metcalf.
