Charles Edward Higgins Sr. (Chuck), age 73, passed away peacefully at home in Sandstone, MN surrounded by his loved ones on April 5, 2024 after battling multiple cancers in the past year.
Chuck was born on August 4, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN to Edward and Margaret Higgins.
As a U.S. Marine Veteran, he was stationed at Camp Lejeune for four years and was then honorably discharged.
After leaving the Marine Corps, Chuck and Diane joined a motorcycle club called the Dry Riders. The Dry Riders were a big part of Chuck and Diane's life. They enjoyed riding motorcycles together with their friends across the country.
Chuck also enjoyed riding bicycles and camping with his wife, kids, and grandkids, woodworking, taking multiple naps no matter what he was doing during the day, and taking multiple trips to the closest store for whatever his wife needed.
He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 53 years Diane Higgins of Sandstone; children Charlie Higgins, Jr. of Illinois, Travis (Tammy) Higgins of Kansas, Missy Higgins (Dave Moore) of Hinckley; eight grandchildren Kayla (David) Moelter, Serenity (Austin) Aleckson, Savannah (Stephon) Buckhanan, Tryston Neumann, Charlie Higgins III, Rianna Prettyfeather, Shayla Prettyfeather, Devyn Higgins; eight great-grandchildren Carly, Isiah, Nathan, Lincoln, Dreydon, Deon, D'Angelo, and Gunner; siblings Kathy Nelson of Rush City, Patrick (Mary) Higgins of White Bear Lake, Ron Teeman of Rock Creek; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Margaret Teeman and Edward Higgins; brothers Mike Higgins, Alan Higgins; brother-in-law Jeff Nelson.
Memorial services for Chuck: 11 AM; Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Olson Chapel in Rush City, with a visitation 5-8 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2024. A luncheon will follow the service.
Memorials in Chuck's memory will be donated to the Chuck Higgins Benefit.
