Pine City
Cheryl (Cheri) Anne Campbell (Germain) passed away on March 29, 2024 at her home in Pine City, Minnesota, at the age of 72.
Cheryl (Cheri) was born and lived in St. Paul, Minnesota where she resided until she and her family moved to Pine City in 1985. Cheri attended high school at Como High School. Although life circumstances prevented Cheri from graduating, she was proud to obtain her GED and supported her children and grandchildren in pursuing their education.
Cheri was united in marriage in 1970 to Meryl Campbell and was blessed from this union with Cheri’s three children, of whom her life revolved around. She moved to Pine City with her partner at the time, Stuart (Stu) Bauer. Cheri and Stu built their home and raised their kids in Pine City, where Cheri enjoyed her gardens and made lots of memories with her family and friends; all were welcomed at Cheri and Stu’s home. Cheri even played the role of a surrogate mom and most of her kids’ friends often referred to Cheri as “Ma” and she would answer to it every time.
Cheri was a hard worker and held various jobs throughout the years. Cheri enjoyed working as a Purchasing Assistant at Grand Casino Hinckley where she worked for many years and built great, lifelong friendships. After leaving the Casino, Cheri went on to work at MinPack in Pine City, where she enjoyed learning about the packaging and printing business. It was during this time Cheri began having some medical issues and so began her journey of focusing on her health, which included kidney dialysis. Although this journey was difficult, in 2009, Cheri received the gift of life from one of her co-workers, Mike Harper, who donated a kidney and soon became part of her family and remained close – lifelong friends. With Cheri’s desire to take care of others and her need to give, she went to work as a PCA, where she worked up until her retirement in March of 2023.
All of those who were blessed to know Cheri knew that she had an amazing personality and enjoyed a good laugh – she was very quick witted, and her comebacks were impossible to not be met with bursts into laughter. Cheri enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she especially enjoyed hanging at the lake with her family and loved taking an occasional ride out on the pontoon. Cheri was an avid TV watcher, content to sit back and enjoy a good show.
Throughout her life, Cheri’s most meaningful joys were her love for her family and friends. Cheri was very loved and will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother Janice Malmanger; father Gerald Germain; sisters Yvonne Jarosiewicz, Diane Sedesky, and Susan Strahan.
Cheri is survived by her sons Mark Campbell (Alecia Mitthun) and Chris (Ann) Campbell both of Pine City; daughter Jody (James) West of Hinckley; sister Linda Larkin of Cambridge; beloved grandchildren Anthony Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Evelyn Mitthun, Alex Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Alayna (Cedric) Farnsworth, Deaven Brown, Brenden (Bridgit) Brown, Damien Brown, Tryston West; great-grand children Elena, Hunter, Delilah, Cora, Jesse, Anthony Jr, Harlie, Richard, Kyra, Baylee; and her very close and dear friend Rose Broz Freitag.
