Christopher Raymond Henricks was born October 9, 1964 in Rush City, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Janet (Youngquist) Henricks.
Chris loved his boys, nature, hunting, motorcycles, dogs (his current dog "Tatanka"), tinkering in his shop, helping others fix things and his job.
In all, Chris had 34 years of dedicated service in Law Enforcement. His service covers several different agencies. He was full-time for 31 years, and part-time for just over three years.
Chris started his law enforcement career with the Rush City Police Department working from 1989-1991. He then worked full-time with the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office for 29 years from 1991-2020. After retiring from full-time duty, Chris worked for the Sheriff’s Office Court Security Division.
During Chris' career with the Sheriff’s Office, he filled different roles and assignments including; Corporal, Use of Force Instructor and Firearms Instructor. Chris also helped the agency at various times by setting up new squad cars with the needed equipment. Chris was known as someone that could fix anything. He helped keep the Sheriff’s Office equipment running smoothly and maintained over the years. He definitely helped keep the district office clean and organized.
In June of 1997, Chris was one of three deputies directly involved in the tragic Trooper Timothy Bowe incident. For his involvement and heroic efforts in that officer involved shooting incident, Chris was recognized and received awards. The Chisago County Board of Commissioners awarded Chris with a proclamation recognizing his response and efforts. Chris received the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association Medal of Valor award and the Minnesota Top Cops award at a ceremony held at a Minnesota Twin’s game.
Chris passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 59.
Chris is survived by his sons Brandon (Holly) Henricks and Sam Henricks all of Rush City; siblings Mike Henricks of North Branch, Kathy (Cecil) Wildes of Georgia; companion Angie Walton of Rush City.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Janet Henricks.
Chaplain Lee Beecher will officiate at funeral services for Chris: 11 AM; Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation is planned from 4-8 PM, Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery, Spring Lake, Minnesota, at a later date.
