On January 7th, 2025, the world lost a true original. Clayton Richard Olson, 50, of North Branch; formerly of Wyoming, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous 14-month battle with cancer.
Clay had a gift for knowing how to do just about anything—and if he didn’t, he’d figure it out and gladly teach someone else along the way. He was happiest when his hands were busy, whether it was tinkering in the garage, restoring classic cars, or riding his motorcycle or dirt bike. A man of many passions, he was a collector of both treasures and tools; a man who found joy in the little things.
Above all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends and his beloved dogs, who were always by his side.
Clayton is survived by his High School sweetheart, Best Friend, and loving wife of 30 years, LeeAnn; daughters, Alyssa Villafuerte (Olson) and Hannah Olson; his cherished grandchildren, Lilly, Easton, and Owen, all of North Branch. He also leaves behind his mother, Becky Johnston; brother, Jeremy (Michelle) Olson all of Red Wing; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Gerri Zaccardi of Forest Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Greg Olson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 16th, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Running Aces Harness Park in Forest Lake, MN. In honor of Clay, the gathering will be casual and light-hearted—just the way he would have wanted. Come as you are, share a story or two, and join us in honoring his memory with laughter and love.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the: Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City, Olson Chapel
