Clifford Gunnard Shoberg, age 97, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Ecumen in North Branch.
Clifford was born to Gunnard and Mabel (Johnson) Shoberg on July 16, 1924 in Rock Creek Township, Pine County, MN in “Little Sweden”, a community of Swedish settlers approximately two miles south of Rock Creek. Cliff was the second of four children.
At the age of seven, the family moved to the “Shoberg” farm east of Rock Creek. Cliff attended school through the 6th grade in Rock Creek, after which he farmed with his father and later with his two brothers; Mel and Don, on the Shoberg farm. He loved animals, especially cats.
Cliff was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City, the Jasper Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.
After retiring Cliff moved to town; (Rush City) and in June of 2018 he moved to Ecumen of North Branch where he enjoyed socializing and activities such as church and bingo.
Cliff will be remembered as being a kind and gentle man.
Cliff is survived by his sister-in-law Edie Shoberg of Spring Lake Park; nieces and nephews Loren (Connie) Olson of North Branch, Debbie (Marc) Dumas of Mounds View, Diane (Jack) Vierkant of Buckeye, AZ, Paul (Jewel) Shoberg of Ham Lake, Sandi (Dan Steinbach) Shoberg of St. Cloud, Jeff (Julie Kerr) Shoberg of Sauk Rapids, Sheri Shoberg of Arden Hills; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gunnard and Mabel Shoberg; sister Lorraine (Llewellyn) Olson; brothers Mel (Shirley) Shoberg and Don Shoberg.
Pastor Nathan Baker-Trinity will officiate at funeral services for Cliff: 3 PM; Monday, November 8, 2021 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place in First Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City.
