Darlyne Purdy passed away at her home in Pine City Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the age of 81.Darlyne Anna was born May 5, 1936 to William and Helen (Peil) Wimmer in Rock Creek Township, Minnesota. Darlyne attended country school through the 8th grade.In May of 1956, Darlyne married Marvin Purdy. They made their first home in Blaine, Minnesota. Together they raised 4 children; 2 sons and 2 daughters. Later the family moved to Cambridge, Minnesota until Marvin retired. After retirement they moved to Pine City. In 2000, after many years of being happily married, Marvin passed away. Darlyne continued to live in their Pine City home. Darlyne enjoyed helping others and spending time with her family. She especially looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they brought her much joy. Darlyne continued to be very active; as a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Church. She will be truly and very dearly missed by her many relatives and friends. Darlyne is survived by children: Cindy (Mike) Meyers of Isanti, Bradley Purdy of Texas, Peggy Redmond of Pine City, Joe (Kelly) Purdy of Isanti; grandchildren: Jenifer (Chris) Kuras, Heidi Purdy, Erick (Kim) Malaske, Nic Purdy, Stephanie Purdy, Ethen (Danielle) Purdy, Jeff Meyers, Brandon (Taylor) Ruud, Rachel (Bobby) Blaisdell, Jacob (Breanna) Ruud, and Christopher Ruud; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Delores Mammenga, Ray "Charlie" (Ilene) Wimmer, Harold (Madelyn) Wimmer, Mary Mullins, Clarence Wimmer all of Pine City, Billy Wimmer of St. Cloud, Kathy Wimmer of Pine City; many other relatives and friends.Darlyne is preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Wimmer, husband Marvin Purdy, granddaughter Heather Hawley, siblings Alice (Bob) Lindahl, Robert (Dolly) Wimmer, Joan (LeRoy) Bankers, Gary Wimmer, Mike Wimmer, Phyllis (Don) Mullins and Robert Mammenga.Monsignor Aleksander Suchan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Darlyne: 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pine City. A time of reviewal and visitation will be held 5-8:00 PM Tuesday evening with a Rosary at 7:30 PM all at the Swanson Chapel and also 1 hour prior to the service in St. Anthony Room at church. The interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Pine City.
