Daryl Willert of Pine City passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg, Wisconsin at the age of 64.
Daryl Leroy Willert was born on September 12, 1958 to Fred Willert and Virginia Pitkin in Forest City, Iowa.
Daryl graduated from Pine City High School, class of 1977. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army on June 10, 1977 and became an intelligence analyst. Daryl spent part of his military career in Germany; this was his absolute favorite time in the military, as he had a great taste for travel and new experiences. His military career came to an end in April of 1986, shortly after, he moved back to Pine City where he met his wife Amy Auers. Daryl and Amy celebrated 34 years of marriage in May of 2022.
Daryl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed telling entertaining stories, hunting, fishing, and cooking for anyone who came through his door.
Daryl is survived by his wife Amy Willert of Pine City; daughters Kailee Willert of Albert Lea, Maraina (Edgar) Santillanes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son Devin Willert of Cambridge; grandson Eli Santillanes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; siblings Snookie Willert of Pine City, Karen (Robert) Rosati of McAllen, Texas, Dennis (Mary) Willert of Pine City; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Pitkin; father Fred Willert; brother Duane Willert; sister-in-law Jake Willert.
Monsignor Aleksander Suchan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Daryl: 10:30 AM; Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned from 5-8 PM; Thursday (3/2/2023) at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City and also one hour prior to the Mass in the St. Anthony Commons Area at the church.
