David Videen, age 79, passed away peacefully Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home in Pine City after a long battle with cancer.
David Arthur Videen was born November 29, 1944 to Allen and Mildred (Abrahamson) Videen in Minneapolis, Minnesota. David grew up in South Minneapolis. In 1962, he graduated from South High School.
In 1980, Dave married Barbara (Blazina) and they made their home in South Minneapolis. Katie was born to David and Barbara in 1983. Katie was welcomed home by David’s two daughters from a previous marriage Liz and Michelle.
Dave’s dad, Leroy (Catfish) Videen built a cabin on the east side of Cross Lake in the 1960s. Upon Dave's retirement from Canadian Pacific Railroad they built a home on the property and in 2006 moved to Pine City to live full-time.
Dave was an avid reader, he loved history, aviation, and politics always enjoying a good political discussion. He was known for his knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and had a fantastic memory.
Dave loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hiking. He and Barb enjoyed traveling, their favorite trip was an African photo safari.
David is survived by wife Barbara of Pine City, children Liz Videen of Minneapolis, Michelle (J) Moody of Texas, Katie Videen of St. Louis Park; grandsons Josh Moody and Drew Moody; siblings Lee (Cheryl) Videen of Minneapolis, Steve (Elizabeth) Videen of Idaho; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Allen & Mildred Videen; sister Sandy (Pat) Sullivan.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
