Delores Laverne Mold

Delores Laverne (Swanson) Mold of Rush City passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the age of 88.

Delores was born December 30, 1929 to Carl and Inga (Mell) Swanson in Rush Point, Minnesota.

Delores attended school in Isanti, later the Chippewa Hill School, Nessel and finally Rush City High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rush Point. Her first job was as a telephone operator in Duluth and later she worked at Sears in Minneapolis.

She met Willard Mold at a dance in Pine City and they were married on February 22, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Rush City. They had three children: Randy, Debbie and Jim.

Delores was a farm wife (although she said she never milked a cow.) She was an excellent cook and baker. Delores and Willard loved to dance! Saturday nights were spent dancing at local ballrooms with friends and family. She was a dedicated member of First Lutheran Church in Rush City; taking part in many church activities. Delores was active in many organizations and morning coffee at the Rush City Bakery or The Grant House with friends was a weekly highlight. Delores loved life and met each day with positivity and happiness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loving friend to many.

Delores is survived by her children Randy (Sue) Mold, Debbie (Ron) Nelson all of Rush City and Jim Mold of Mora; grandchildren Chad (Alanna) Nelson, Eric (Nicole) Mold, Angela (Derek) Kuhlman, Jeff (Toni Trapp) Mold, Kyle Mold, Natalie Mold and Elizabeth Mold; great-grandchildren Lydia & Ella Kuhlman, Leah & Sophie Nelson, Landon & Lola Mold, Ashlynn & Ryder Mold, Devin Trantanella and Casey Trapp; sisters-in-law Florence Swanson of Rush City, Lois Swanson of Forest Lake, DeDe Swanson of Rush City, Eleanor Olson of Almelund and Lucille Hagert of Sanborn; brothers-in-law Bill Peterson of Cambridge, Norman Sellman of White Bear Lake and Doug Smith of Ramsey; many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Inga and Carl Swanson; husband Willard Mold; granddaughter Heather Nelson; brothers Marlo (Vivian) Swanson, Delbert Swanson, Ernie (Bonnie) Swanson, Verilyn Swanson and Larry Swanson; sisters Violet (Gordy) Freedlund, Elaine Peterson, Gloria (Sonny) Rohlf and Arlys Smith; in-laws Rosalie (Marvin "Pete") Pederson, Maurice (Sis) Mold, Luverne Sellman, Lowell Olson, Melvin (Sarah) Mold, Theodore Hagert and Orville Mold.

Reverend Glen Bickford and Reverend Caroline Harthun-Wooldridge will officiate at funeral services for Delores: 11 AM; Monday, March 12, 2018 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned from 5-7 PM Sunday (3/11/18) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place at First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City.
