Doris Lindahl passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Grace Point Crossing in Cambridge at the age of 84.
Doris Catherine Lindahl was born on March 31, 1934 to James and Catherine Tracy in Lemmon, South Dakota. In 1944, her family moved to a farm near Pine City; she graduated from Pine City High School in 1951. On June 8, 1952 she married Ernest Lindahl. Ernest and Doris bought a farm in Pokegama Township and they continued to live there until 2007 when they moved to Halter Pines in Pine City.
Doris was always busy with homemaking and responsibilities of farm life. She loved kids and enjoyed having the neighbors and relatives over for a visit (especially if it involved playing cards and lots of laughter). Doris worked as a waitress, selling Stanley Products from her home, and doing odds and ends for extra spending money. She and Ernie welcomed many foster children to come live on the farm. There were many children who came to live with Doris and Ernie and found love that they may not have known before.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the Grace Point Crossing staff and Allina Hospice for their care. And, a special thank you to Linda Haug and Karen Tiech for their help.
Doris is survived by her husband Ernest Lindahl of Pine City; son Tony Lindahl of Pine City; daughter Tammy (Martha) Lindahl of Bello Coola, British Columbia; sister Helen Fedder of Pine City; sister-in-law Cheryl Tracy of Detroit Lakes; brother-in-law Norman Nordrum; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents James and Catherine Tracy, siblings: Maxine (Richard) Gregor, Don (LaVonne) Tracy, Joann (Dick) Bjorklund, Janice Nordrum, Dick Tracy, brother-in-law Henry Fedder and niece Annette Tracy.
Pastor Rob Spahr will officiate at Doris' Celebration of Life: 3 PM; Saturday (2/16/19) followed by a fellowship reception at First Presbyterian Church in Pine City. A gathering time for family and friends is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church.
