Dorothy Pixley passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 with her loving husband and daughters surrounding her with much love at her home in Pine City at the age of 92.
Dorothy Margaret Stoffel was born April 14, 1932 to Henry and Rose (Tacheny) Stoffel in Pine City, Minnesota, she was their eighth child. In 1950, Dorothy graduated from the Pine City High School. She met the boy next door when her parents moved from the east side of Pine City to the west side. Vincent and Dorothy were married on June 11, 1955. From their union eight children were born. In 1970, Dorothy decided to return to the work force and was employed as a secretary at both Pine City Schools and Pine City Technical College. In 1985, after her youngest child graduated from high school, Dorothy decided to go to work in the Metro area where she was employed by Honeywell in Minneapolis. She was able to go to car pool with Vince until they retired in 1993.
During her retirement years Dorothy volunteered at St. Mary's School as a teacher’s aide. Dorothy and Vincent delivered Meals on Wheels, she served on the Rural School Association as secretary for over 30 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, CCW.
Dorothy was an avid reader, enjoyed taking care of her flowers and spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She loved music and was gifted to be able to play piano and accordion by ear. Dorothy was able to make special connections with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they would dye Easter Eggs together on Good Friday, and she encouraged "Annie, Annie Over" around the playhouse.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Vincent Pixley of Pine City; children Marlene Pixley, Deanne Pixley both of Eden Prairie, Greg Pixley of Pine City, Doug (Pamela) Pixley of Elk River, Tim Pixley of Rock Creek, Brad (Vicki) Pixley of Grasston, Elizabeth “Lisa” Pixley of Eden Prairie, grandchildren Laura (Ryan) Mills, Lacey (Sean) Passer, James (Bekah) Pixley, Carson Pixley, Dawson Pixley; great grandchildren Scarlett Passer, Lenore Passer, Sawyer Mills, Marshall Mills, Brooks Pixley; daughter-in-law Susan Pixley of Grasston; siblings Rosemary Schultz of Richfield, Theresa Kovacovich of Brooklyn Park, Edwin "John" (Rachael) Stoffel, sister-in-law Alyce "Jeanne" Cort of Pine City; brother-in-law Edward Dion of Lombard, Illinois; many other relatives and dear friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Rose Stoffel; son David Pixley; four sisters; three brothers, 3 sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law.
Monsignor Aleksander Suchan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy: 2 PM; Monday (10/7) at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City. A time of visitation from 2-5 PM; Sunday (10/6) at Swanson Funeral Chapel with a 4:30 PM Prayer Service and at St. Anthony Commons prior to the Mass at the church. The interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Pine City.
