Dorothy Helen Wargovick was born February 28, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the third of four children born to Andrew and Victoria (Kendzera) Wargovick.
Dorothy grew up in South Minneapolis and attended St. Elizabeth and Holy Rosary schools. Following high school, Dorothy worked for Thompson-Hayward Chemical Company and Pako Corporation where she supervised the secretaries and was the secretary for the vice-president of Pako. In 1948, Dorothy resigned to become a full-time mother and homemaker.
Dorothy loved all her children, extended family and friends dearly. She will be remembered for her generosity and sense of humor. Anyone who stopped by was treated to good food and conversation.
Besides loving her family and friends, Dorothy enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona and Oregon during the winter, playing golf and playing slot machines at the casino. She loved to read, was a passionate cross word puzzle player and loved to sit on the deck and enjoy the sunshine. Dorothy also had an affinity of smiley face symbols-a perfect symbol of her personality.
Dorothy lived a full life and passed peacefully at her home on West Rush Lake with two of her children by her side on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the age of 93.
Dorothy is survived by her children Vicky (Phil) Nelson of Cumberland, Wisconsin, Tom (Kathy Lincoln) Tomczyk of Keizer, Oregon, David (Kristine) Tomczyk and Bill (Ruth) Tomczyk all of Rush City; grandchildren Becky (Justin) Spoelstra, Molly, Christopher, and Bethany Tomczyk, Elizabeth and Sophie Tomczyk, Jill, Erin, Lisa and Jenna Tomczyk; great-grandchildren Logan and Austin; sister Marcy Erickson of Roseville; sisters-in-law Helen Wargovick of Minneapolis and Rosie Staneart of Chicago, Illinois; brother-in-law Bob Hudoba of Moundview; many nieces and nephews.
