Eric Bradley Somora

Eric Somora, age 44, passed away on Oct 19, 2021. Eric graduated from Hiawatha High School, then joined the Army. In the Army Eric was a “gunner” on M1A2 Abrams Tank, “roof gunner” while in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he searched people and vehicles at check points, organized training and maintained computers. He received a Battalion Coin for excellence in first operation Foal Eagles in South Korea, Battalion Coin for excellence during operations in Bosnia, NATO medal for deployment to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Army Commendation Medal, Airborne Parachutist Badge, Excellence in Armor Badge, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Army Service ribbon. He then moved to Minnesota and went to college where he was on the Dean’s List 5 out of 6 semesters. He was a member a of Phi Theta Kappa, student director for Pine Area Chamber of Commerce, and provided tutoring in a variety of subjects. Eric was adventurous, fearless, and would help others get over their fears. In his earlier years he made his own fireworks and raced his Monte Carlo, where he got his nick name, Rock. He loved the rush from going fast, drifting his car, or cornering his motorcycle. He flew radio control planes and cars with friends and family. He played Diablo, Heroes & Generals, and World of Warcraft, where he made friends all around the world. Most of all, Eric loved the Boundary Waters. He was always encouraging his loved ones to experience it with Fay and him. He was always willing to help and never want anything in return. If you were cold, he would have taken his coat off for you…which he did a few times. You may know Eric from Radio Shack. He quickly became a family friend and met the love of his life Fay, “my girl”. They shared many adventures over their 16-year relationship with the hope to be married one day. Eric is survived by his mother Judith Somora; fiancée Fay; children Devyn, Paige, Cody, plus two daughters; Goddaughter Lilly. He was preceded in death by his father Allan Somora. A Celebration of Life for Eric will be held from 12 Noon-3 PM; Saturday, November 20, 2021. Please contact Fay for further details.
