Gene Kuhlman of Rush City passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at his daughter's home in Rush City at the age of 92.
Eugene “Gene” Carl Kuhlman, Jr. was born on February 10, 1932 to Eugene Sr. and Gladys (Ellison) Kuhlman in Finlayson, Minnesota.
Eugene grew up on his parent's farm in Finlayson. His school years were at Finlayson School. He served his country in the United States Army and was discharged on February 20, 1953. That same year he married the love of his life on August 29, 1953. This marriage blessed them with three sons and two daughters. They lived in St. Paul until 1966 when they purchased their farm in Rush City where Eugene remained until he moved in with his daughter and son-in-law on May 2, 2020. This is where he remained until the Lord called him home on October 16, 2024.
Eugene spent most of his working career at CW Houle Sod Farms, Rehbein Sod Farms, and Northland Concrete and Masonry. He also enjoyed working with his son's businesses of landscaping and firewood USA, trades his son learned from Eugene.
He loved eating breakfast at local restaurants, as well as hunting, fishing, dancing, farming and most of all, auctions.
Eugene is lovingly remembered by his children Gary Kuhlman of Ham Lake, Cheryl (Chuck) Gossen of Rush City, Glen (Colleen) Kuhlman of Harris, Christine (Randy) Benolken and Michael (Rebecca) Kuhlman all of Rush City; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; siblings Melvin Kuhlman of Rush City, Wes (Shirley) Kuhlman of Federal Way, WA, Lawrence Kuhlman of Finlayson, Darryl (Bobbie) Kuhlman of Minneapolis, Kathy Good of Rush City; brother-in-law Frank Kwapick; sisters-in-law Marcella Kwapick and Barbara Kwapick; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Sr. and Gladys Kuhlman; wife Regina “Red” Kuhlman; brother-in-law Gerry Good; sister-in-law RuthAnn Kuhlman.
Pastor Lee Beecher will officiate funeral services for Gene at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A time of visitation will take place from 6-9 PM on Tuesday (10/22) and also one hour prior to the service all at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. The interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: St. Croix Hospice.
