Evelyn Adeline Engelby of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Hennepin County Medical Center with her siblings by her side.
Evelyn was born on February 12, 1963 to Adeline (Van Horn) and Marvin Engelby in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Evelyn had a strong Christian faith and enjoyed attending many churches in the area. She loved to sing, read and write poetry. Spring flowers were among her favorites including daffodils and tulips. She adored bright colors and country music. She will be remembered for her big laugh, her ability to recall stories in great detail, and a knack for giving unusual gifts with a generous heart.
As a final gift to others and in true Evelyn fashion, she made the decision to be a registered organ donor. Her smile radiated from within her soul.
She is survived by her son Melachi Nelson; mother Adeline Engelby of Pine City; siblings Elliott (Bea) Engelby of Ash Fork, Arizona, Everett (Tanya) Engelby of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Esther Rosenthal of Cambridge, Elizabeth (David) Miller of Romeo, Michigan and Eunice (Jerry) Miller of Pine City; 19 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her father Marvin Engelby.
Much gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of Lutheran Social Services and Hennepin County Medical Center.
