Greg Knutson of Champlin passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park at the age of 63.
Greg Donald Knutson was born October 26, 1956 to Gaylen “Knute” and Doris “Dode” (Sorset) Knutson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had four sisters: Trayce, Cindy, LuAnn and Gail.
Greg grew up in North Minneapolis and attended Patrick Henry High School where he made many life long friends. He married Kathy Stefanick and they raised three children: Darlene, Nick and Bradley. Greg and Kathy divorced and he met Lisa Thesing and helped raise a second family: Nick, Alex and Cassandra.
Greg worked as a car salesman and also did construction work. He enjoyed working on cars and attending car shows. He loved the old classic cars.
Greg accepted the Lord in 2011 after reading the book "The Purpose Driven Life" and was baptized at NorthRidge Fellowship Church. He attended church at Eagle Brook with his daughter and son on a regular basis.
In February 2013, Greg suffered a massive stroke which left him with many physical challenges.
Greg loved his family. He was very strong willed and rarely depended on anyones help. He was meticulous about his yard and loved to ride his lawn mower. He would give anyone the shirt off his back and always helped anyone in need.
Greg is survived by Lisa Thesing of Champlin; daughter Darlene (Jason) Marotta of Elk River; son Brad Knutson of Osseo, Nick Thesing, Alex Thesing, Cassandra Thesing all of Champlin; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters LuAnn (Tom) Tyson of Albertville, Gail (Mike) Tiedeken of St. Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents Knute and Dode Knutson; son Nick Stefanick; grandson Justin Marotta; sisters Trayce Olsen, Cindy Knutson-Compton, Trudy Knutson.
Pastor Doug Whittlef will officiate at funeral services for Greg: 12 Noon; Saturday, August 1, 2020 with a time for family and friends to gather one hour prior to the service; all at NorthRidge Fellowship Church, 12522 Main Street, Rogers, MN.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to: Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City ~ Olson Chapel.
