Irene Ethel Bartel

Irene Bartel of Bloomington passed from this life on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington at the age of 87, going home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Irene Ethel Lyseth was born on November 1, 1936 to Garland and Ethel (Von Busch) Lyseth in Pine City, Minnesota. As a young child her family moved to the Cloverdale area outside of Hinckley, MN. She attended country school and graduated from Hinckley High School with honors.

She worked at Tobie's Restaurant in Hinckley during high school and later did secretarial work at Emrick Bakery and Sears - both in Minneapolis. She lived most of her adult life in Richfield, MN. She was an excellent cook and loved to feed the people she loved. She enjoyed Bible study and sharing her faith with anyone she met. She loved to read, take photographs, and work her word puzzles. She sent countless cards to her family and friends throughout her life.

She loved being a grandma and a great-grandma. Altogether she had 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She loved her family, and very much cherished her expansive collection of the photographs she and others had taken of family members.

She will be missed by all.

Irene is survived by her daughter Julie (Mike) Sheppard; son Gary Bartel; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Garland and Ethel Lyseth; husband Eugene M. Bartel; and daughter Peggy Jean Opheim.

Pastor Earl Ready will officiate funeral services for Irene: 11 AM; Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City with a time for gathering of family and friends planned for one hour prior to the service. The interment will take place in Hustletown Union Cemetery, Pine City, Minnesota.
