Jacquelyn Bernard passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Northern Pines Assisted Living in Pine City at the age of 89.
Jacquelyn was born November 21, 1934 in Aberdeen, South Dakota; she was adopted by Arvid and Marion Alquist. She was raised in Minneapolis where she attended school graduating from the Academy of Holy Angels High School. She then attended the St. Cloud Teachers College at the Saint Cloud State University.
Jacquelyn was a teacher, professional mediator, and horse farm owner throughout her life. Over the years Jacquelyn was active in many organizations; including the Pine County Farmers Union, serving as the secretary for many years.
In January of 1984, she married Bud Greensweig Bernard, they were married for 29 years before his passing in 2013. Jacquelyn loved her grandchildren, pets, and horses.
Jacquelyn is survived by her children Peggy (Richard) Kohman of Dayton, Bruce (Julie) Petersen of Waunakee, Wisconsin, Thom (Alana) Petersen of Pine City, Dan (Colleen) Greensweig of Circle Pines, Eve (Tony) Meys of Minneapolis; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, including Dylan and Waylon of Pine City; many other relatives and friends.
Jacquelyn is preceded in death by her parents Arvid and Marion Alquist; husband Bud Bernard.
The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Pines, St. Croix Hospice, and Family Pathways Aging Services for their care and kindness.
A memorial Mass for Jacquelyn: 8:30 AM; Friday (8/2) at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (services are held in the lower level) in Pine City.
A celebration of Jacquelyn’s life for family and friends will be held from 11 AM-2 PM; Saturday, (8/3) at the Thom and Alana Petersen farm, 9347 Wildflower Road, Pine City, Minnesota.
