James Dennison Jr. formerly of Rock Creek passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his home in Lindstrom at the age of 93.James Dennison Jr. was born to James and Thelma (Frymier) Dennison on July 25, 1924 in Tanner, West Virginia.  After graduating from high school Jim attended Glenville State Teachers College for two years where he studied business administration. In September 1968, Jim first came to Minnesota on a vacation with his family.  He and his family saw the farm in a realtor’s guide while on this trip.  He began to explore the possibility of buying the entire operation.  Not too long after that Jim, his wife Bernice and their son Kenneth began their farming life on a 200-acre, 50 herd dairy farm west of Hwy 70.  Prior to farming, Jim had worked as a shipping foreman for a large bakery and he always said that job helped in his organizational skills.  Jim’s move to Pine City proved to be personally rewarding.  He had a very community minded-attitude and was involved in many organizations throughout his farming career and in retirement. The Dennison’s received numerous awards for their farm’s quality and production over the years.  Jim was active on the: Ag Day Planning Committee, Board of Directors of East Central Holstein Association and the Pine County America Dairy Association.  He and his family were chosen Conservation Farmers in 1978.  This is the short list of the organizations Jim served on: Korbel Arena Association, Northeast Dairy Days, Midwest Breeders, Heritage Celebration Committee, Pine City Area Chamber of Commerce, Farmer’s Union and the Pine City Land O’ Lakes Milk Producers. He was appointed to the Pine City State Bank Board of Directors, this was an opportunity to work closely with then president Cal Clark and he felt much honored to have been chosen.  In 1984, Jim was honored as the Pine City Citizen of the Year.  He actively served as an officer in many of the organizations and he was well known for speaking ability.Jim kept a scrapbook of newspaper articles; he is pictured with 8th District Congressman James Oberstar, bank presidents and mayors just to mention a few.  It also includes many letters of appreciation, thank you letters and awards; he was humbled and always felt it was a privilege to serve his community.Jim is survived by his son Kenneth (Pamela) Dennison of Lindstrom; grandchildren: Kevin (Shannon) Dennison of Brainerd, Desiree Dennison of Rush City, Jessica Schmidt of Moundsview, Alesia (John) Stegall of Lindstrom; great-grandson Devin Dennison of Rush City; sisters Bonnie Annen of Massillon, Ohio and Madelyn Troyer of Walnut Creek, Ohio; brother Jamie Dennison of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernice Dennison; parents James and Thelma Dennison; and six siblings.
