James R. Ehnstrom, age 79, of Pflugerville, Texas and West Rush Lake, Rush City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home in Texas in the arms of his loving wife and with his family by his side on January 24, 2018.
Jim was born June 11, 1938 to Ernest and Sarah Ehnstrom in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Jim lived in St. Paul, Little Canada, Red Wing, and Oakdale areas until 1985 when he, his wife, and family moved to Round Rock, Texas so he could continue his career with 3M as Manager of the 3M Machine Shop. He worked at 3M for 36 ½ years and retired from there December 1996.
Jim was an active member of the Oakdale Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. He and his wife were members of the Minnesota Street Rod Association and also belonged to various car clubs in Minnesota and Texas.
Jim enjoyed his cars and his two 1940 Ford street rods he built years ago. He took pride in building, designing, engineering and driving them. He would drive them to attend and enjoy many car shows; his favorite being “Back to the 50’s” for many years. He also enjoyed traveling, meeting and talking to people; for no one was a stranger to him. He loved fishing, boating, living at the lake, his family, his friends and his life. He was a very caring, forgiving, happy, helpful, loving, witty and special man to all who knew him. He liked to give people a little grief about something; then give you a devilish grin so you knew it was in fun. He will be missed dearly by all he touched. We know he cruised through Heaven’s Gates!
Jim is survived by his wife Sharon and his Loving Family.
Reverend Dr. Vicki VanderVegt will officiate at a Service and Celebration of Jim’s Life on Saturday, June 16, 2018, 1 PM at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush Point, 600 Rush Point Drive, Stanchfield, MN 55080. A time for friends to share memories of Jim over food and beverage will immediately follow the service until 4 PM in the Fellowship Hall.
