Jim Hjelm of Rush City passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in Cambridge at the age of 76.
James Kenneth Hjelm was born February 20, 1947 to Kenneth and Lillian (Dahl) Hjelm in Rush City, Minnesota and grew up on the Hjelm farm near Rush Point and attended Rush City School. While a high school student he was active in FFA and got to know many friends. After high school Jim served in the National Guard Unit in Pine City until 1973.
Jim married Stacy Major from Cambridge in 1968 and they lived in Braham and Cambridge. They were blessed with three children: Jean, Patrick and Kelly.
Jim worked for Onan Company in Minneapolis and farmed near Rush Point. He especially enjoyed working on anything with a motor, farming, canoeing or snowmobiling on Pine Lake and spending time with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his children Jean (Mike) Ysbrand of Maple Grove, Patrick (Dee) Hjelm of Lebanon, Tennessee, Kelly (Terry) Nelson of Cambridge; 8 grandchildren; brother Jon (Barb) Hjelm of Greely; foster brother Marty LaBelle; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Lillian Hjelm.
Reverend Dr. Vicki VanderVegt will officiate at Jim's funeral service: 11 AM; Saturday, February 17, 2024 with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the service all at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rush Point. The interment will take place in the Calvary Cemetery, Rush Point.
Memorials may be designated to: St. Croix Hospice.
