James Edward Mackey, Sr.

James Mackey Sr. of Pine City passed away at his home Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of 69.James Edward Mackey Sr. was born January 13, 1948 to Lloyd and Bonnie (Glasgow) Mackey in Litchfield, Minnesota.Jim had a very active and eventful 69 years.  He enlisted in the Army at 17 years old and was sent to Viet Nam as soon as he turned 18.  In 1978, he and Linda moved to California, married and he got involved in the wrecking yard business.  In 1995, they headed to Oregon where he started as a millwright and then went on to become a turbine mechanic and worked at power plants overseas. In 2010, they moved back to Minnesota to retire.  Then he got involved in rebuilding old tractors and had up to 14 at one time. “Have I got a deal for you, today and today only!” Whenever Jim needed something, I just said “Don’t get up Jim, I got it”.Your painful days are over and restless nights have passed,God has whispered “You have peace at last”.Just close your eyes and you will seeAll the memories that you have of me.Just sit and relax and you will findI’m really there inside your mindThere is no pain, there is no fearSo wipe away the silent tearI’m in that place that’s filled with loveKnown to you all as “Up Above” You have touched so many lives and will be missed by all of us.  We all love you so dearly. James is survived by his wife Linda Mackey of Pine City, family members:  James Mackey Jr. of St. Paul, Jesse Mackey of Pine City, Jason Bruley of Pine City, Adam Thomas of Las Vegas, NV, Michelle Mairel of Corcoran, CA, Dave (Jennifer) Knoll of Pine City, Leslie Ann (Lloyd) Zeise of Hastings, Diane (E.C.)
