John Wayne Richmond, a proud Vietnam Veteran, passed away at M Health Fairview in Wyoming on August 2, 2024 at the age of 73.
He was born on April 5, 1951 in Leesville, Louisiana, and his life was a testament to courage, service, and love.
John served two tours in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star Medal for his bravery and dedication. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on May 25, 1973, and remained a source of inspiration and pride for his family and friends.
John lived most of his life in Oklahoma. After his military service, John found great joy and fulfillment driving a semi-truck over the road. His love for the open road was immense. He moved to Rush City, Minnesota in 2021. He cherished living in the country, where he found immense joy in the companionship of his beloved dogs and the laughter of all the children who regularly came to visit him.
John was deeply loved by all who knew him. His family and friends cherished his warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness. His family brought him to Minnesota to improve his journey of life. He found his home here in Rush City. The people who offered a sense of warmth and belonging were important to John.
Friends, who he considered as part of his family, would check in often, bringing laughter, kindness, and unwavering support. They shared joys and sorrows, creating a second family filled with love and camaraderie.

John is survived by all who loved him.
A memorial service honoring John's life and military service will be held at 2:00 PM; Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery; 7601 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN, Assembly Area #2.
