Jordan Willis Bien

Jordan Bien, age 80, of Stacy passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at his home.

Jordan Willis (Rickard) Bien was born on June 17, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George Walter (Tommy) and Mary Jean (Bass) Rickard. Following the divorce of Mary Jean and Tommy, his mother married Ralph Haze Bien who adopted Jordan and his sister Sylvia. They moved to Hastings where Ralph worked as the Farm Manager at the State Hospital.

Jordan enjoyed growing up on the 500 acre state hospital farm and attended Hastings Senior High School where he met Elaine Loesch, they married on June 7, 1964. Together they had three children: Stephen (Julie), Michael (Debbie), and Patricia Nichols. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1978.

In 1978, Jordan met Sheila Arends and they were married on April 15, 1978. In January 1979, Jonathan (Sandra) and Jeremy (Mireya) were born.

Beginning in 1967, Jordan worked at the Hoerner Waldorf Paper Mill in St. Paul now known as the Rock Ten Paper Company. Jordan was a faithful employee and provider, working seven days a week for many years, he retired in 2009 after 42 years of service.

Jordan enjoyed collecting rocks, bottles, ship pictures and other old things he found at garage sales, and thrift stores. He also enjoyed many trips up to Lake Superior with his kids, where they would walk the beaches looking for agates.

Jordan is survived by his 5 children; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and other family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shelia; sister Sylvia; half siblings Robert Bien, Scott Rickard, and Jon Rickard.

A time of visitation and reviewal is planned from 10 AM-1 PM; Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. The interment will take place at 10 AM on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Linwood Township Cemetery.

Jordan was a wonderful husband and a loving father who will be greatly missed.
