Judith "Judy" Mae Anderson

May 19, 1941 — August 4, 2019

Judy Anderson of Rock Creek died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at her home at the age of 78.

Judith Mae Nys was born May 19, 1941 to Prosper and Edith (Stanton) Nys in Rush City, Minnesota and was the first baby born at the Rush City Hospital which she always claimed that as her bit of fame.

Judy grew up on the small family farm (now Andersons Rock Creek Relics) north of Rush City and lived there all her life. She attended Rush City Schools and graduated with the class of 1959. Her folks and sister traveled to the North Shore often and she grew to love the waterfalls.

Judy married C. Duane Anderson in June of 1959, her husband of nearly 60 years. They began their family of four children the following year living at the same home where she grew up. Judy was a wonderful mother who never tired of playing board games, making paper holiday decorations, baking and gardening with her children and then the grandchildren. She was always happy with what she had and felt the day was worth it when she accomplished much.

Judy worked as a bookkeeper for most of her career. She also was Duane’s right hand when it came to farming and the custom farm business that they operated together for years. Tax preparation was also a favorite sideline job and she continued to assist her adult children in that area for years.

Above all, Judy had faith at the center in all she did. She thoroughly enjoyed attending Journey North Church and reading daily meditations. Also, at the top of her to do list was spending time with family and friends. She was always delighted to have visitors who would come for coffee and enjoy a homemade dessert. Other things that Judy loved were scrapbooking, journaling and reading. Her scrapbooks of many themes included Andersons Rock Creek Relics Threshing and Sawing Show, mini trip books, Christmas books, and heritage albums given to all of her children as Christmas gifts. She also gave a school year album to all of her grandchildren at their graduations.

Judy was a cherished mother, grandmother and friend!

Judy is survived by her children Nancy (Dan) Siefert and Dale (Amy) Anderson all of Rock Creek, Jeanne (John) Philipsen of North Branch; daughter-in-law Marion Reitan of Pine City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Margaret Marty (Dean Madison) and Lorraine Marty all of Rock Creek; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Prosper and Edith Nys; husband Duane Anderson; son Brad Anderson; grandsons Matthew Siefert and Mitchell Siefert; sister Marjorie (Leonard) Shermer; infant sister Patricia Nys; sister-in-law Doris Wolf; brothers-in-law Gordon Marty and Gaylon Marty.
