Julie Dorothy Biggins-Christian

November 4, 1923 — November 8, 2017

Julie Biggins-Christian passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at her home in Pine City at the age of 94. Julia (Julie) was born November 4, 1923 to John and Bertha (Mohr) Resch November 4, 1923 in Nessel Township, Minnesota.  Julie attended school in Rush City and graduated from Rush City High School in 1943. In 1943, Julie and Virdie Biggins were married.  They made their home in Rush City where they raised three daughters and one son.  In 1978, after 35 wonderful years of marriage Virdie passed away. Julie enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, dancing, latch hook, canning, cooking, sewing and playing cards.  She and her daughters spent many weekends away together; spending time with her family and friends was always important to her. In 1989, Julie married Lloyd Christian.  They lived in Milaca and wintered in North Phoenix, Arizona.  They enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer; for short time even lived in the trailer and then later settled in Mora.  Julie was fortunate to have celebrated two 25th Wedding Anniversaries with an 11 year span between.  Julie was a very active and social lady.  She attended many Senior Citizen dances and was always willing to travel far and wide to enjoy dancing with Lloyd.  After marrying Lloyd whose was a Lutheran, Julie would attend both Catholic and Lutheran services.  She liked to time her attendance so that she didn’t hear the same scripture and sermon at either church since the two churches liturgical calendars are one week different.     Julie was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary in Milaca; she also delivered many “Meals on Wheels” in Mora.  Julie is survived by her children: Verlys (Don) Stoffel of Pine City, Linda Cook of Rush City, Nancy (Joe) Mallery of Shafer;  step children Lori (Greg) Goldman of Danbury, WI, Robin Janousek of Milaca, David Christian of Grand Forks, ND, Stephanie (Glen) Keyser of Mora; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister Josephine Thor of Lino Lakes; sister-in-law Mariel Resch of Lino Lakes; brother-in-law Larry Hemmer of Rush City; and many other relatives and friends. Julie is preceded in death by husbands Virdie Biggins and Lloyd Christian, son Robert Biggins, grandson Jimmy Mallery, siblings and in-laws Leo (Betty) Resch, Leonard (Millie) Resch, Evelyn (Sherman) Sellman, Marie (Keith) Sybrandt-Taft, Anthony (Delores) Resch, Frank Resch, Albert (Mickey) Resch, Barb (Ray) Celik, Margaret Hemmer and Richard Thor. Monsignor Aleksander Suchan will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial for Julie: 10:30 AM Tuesday, (11/14/2017) at the Immaculate Conception Church, Pine City.  Julie's 9 grandchildren will be casket bearers.  A time of reviewal and visitation is planned Monday evening 5:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the Swanson Chapel and also 1 hour prior at the church in St. Anthony Room.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City, Swanson Chapel.   www.FuneralAndCremationService.com
