Karl Erickson of Coon Rapids; formerly of Rush City passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park at the age of 57. Karl Otto Erickson was born February 12, 1960 to Harold and Bertha (Holmberg) Erickson in Rush City, Minnesota. He attended schools in Rush City and after his family moved to Lakeville, Karl attended Washburn High School. After high school Karl started a 30 year career in the auto repair industry. Later in life, Karl was involved in apartment maintenance and caretaking. He loved fishing, camping and being around family. He also loved roasting, grinding and brewing his own coffee. Karl even produced and marketed his own coffee brand "Northland Coffee" with "Misty Moose~Morning blend" being his big seller! Karl also enjoyed cooking and baking. His carrot cake was a specialty. He was a handyman, tradesman, auto mechanic but most importantly he had one of the biggest hearts. Karl is survived by his sons Nick (Natasha) Erickson of Coon Rapids and Justin Erickson of South St. Paul; grandchildren: Jason, Ayva, Alayna, Paige and Faith; siblings Dan (Betty) Erickson of Pine River, Hartley (Edee) Erickson, David Erickson all of Minneapolis, Jan (Dave) Wicklund of Inver Grove Heights; brother-in-law Leonard Clark of Arkansas; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Bertha Erickson; sisters Valerie Clark and Patricia (Dale) Rickaby. Pastor Cary Johnson will officiate funeral services for Karl: 2 PM; Monday (12/11/17) with a time of visitation 1 hour prior all at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. The interment will take place at the Mission Covenant Cemetery in Rush City.A catered luncheon, to share memories of Karl and reflect on his life is planned at the Restoration Church (260 West 3rd Street, Rush City) following the interment.
