Katherine "Kay" Rose (Kerbel) Kleidon, a kind-hearted and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the age of 93.
She was born on August 10, 1930 to George and Christina (Quitter) Kerbel in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Kay's journey in life was marked by her love for family, friends, and many wonderful gatherings playing card games, playing in card clubs, singing around a player piano or around the campfire to the accordion and harmonica. She also enjoyed square-dancing, and later in life enjoyed puzzling with her Pine City friends. She was also involved in many activities at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City. She was very crafty and talented in oil painting, sewing, ceramics, cross-stitch, plastic canvas projects, knitting and crocheting. She crocheted dozens of afghans for gifts over the years. She also loved camping and traveling, and she was a huge Minnesota Twins fan.
She married Beauford "Buster" Aubrey Kleidon on April 2, 1955; they were married for 38 years and resided in St. Paul. After Buster's passing, she shared 21 years with loving companion Joseph "Joe" L. Doncits and they resided in Pine City. For the past two years Kay was blessed to be living with her son Mark, daughter-in-law Jill and grand puppy Ruby in Wright, Minnesota.
Kay's presence will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
Kay is survived by children Debbie (Warren) Beltz, Mark (Jill) Kleidon; extended family Beauford D. (Jeanene) Kleidon, Donald (June) Doncits, Ronald (Patti) Doncits, Joseph T. (Diane) Doncits, Debra Zbikowski, Cheryl (Bob) Heitman; grandchildren Alexander (Kelly) Beltz, Nicholas (Kjirsten) Beltz, Katie Kleidon, Joshua Kleidon; many extended family grandchildren; great-grandchildren Lily, Evan, Ashlyn, Thomas, Baylor, Bennett, Nolan, Colton; many extended family great-grandchildren; special friends Jason & Shelly Kadlec; many nieces, nephews, a wide circle of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents George & Christina Kerbel; beloved husband Beauford A. Kleidon; loving companion Joseph Doncits; nine siblings; many other family, extended family and special friends.
Reverend John Stiles and Rev. Dr. Vicki Vander Vegt will officiate funeral services for Kay: 5 PM: Thursday (5/16) at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City. A time of visitation for friends and family will be held two hours prior to the service at the church. Immediately following the service a meal will be served in the fellowship hall. Kay will be interred at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Maplewood at a later date.
