Keith Gilmore passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the age of 69. He was born August 4, 1954 to Jim and Jean (Treat) Gilmore in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Keith grew up in Richfield and served in the Navy after high school. In 1984, Keith and his young family moved to Pine City, where he’d remain the rest of his life, enjoying over 30 years with a book and a view of Cross Lake.
Keith loved nothing more than reading-a passion he passed down to his two children. He found solace in the pages of books, immersing himself in countless stories and expanding his knowledge. His passion for literature was matched only by his love for the fairways, where he found both challenge and camaraderie in the game of golf.
Though you could find him fishing or hunting from time to time, it wasn’t for the fish or the deer, but the time spent with friends. Among his favorite pastimes were playing endless games of Cribbage with his best friend of over 50 years, Jim, and spending time at the legion, a place where he forged lasting friendships and shared countless stories over a drink or two.
Though a quiet soul Keith was kind and thoughtful. His genuine nature and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. His memory will live on in our hearts as we cherish the moments, we were fortunate enough to share with him.
Keith is survived by his children Miranda (Jared) Dyrdahl of Stanchfield, Adam Gilmore of Cambridge; grandchildren Effie Dyrdahl, Sogn Dyrdahl; siblings Mark (Laura) Gilmore of Pine City, Jamie (Larry) Gilmore of Minneapolis, Chris (Laurel) Gilmore of Pine City, Jim (Kathy) Gilmore of Lakeville, Lori (Chaz) Enselein of Oakdale; nieces and nephews.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Jean Gilmore.
A celebration of Keith's life will be held 11-2:00 PM; Friday, (12/22) at the Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51 in Pine City. Keith was never one to be the center of attention, he would want his friends and family to enjoy a drink, eat, share stories, laughter, and reminisce.
In lieu of flowers or donations, buy yourself a book and read it. Truly, Keith would have wanted nothing more. If you need recommendations, just ask his family.
