February 23, 1934 — June 28, 2024

Pine City

Kenneth Carlson of Pine City passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at the age of 90 at Sandstone Health Care Center.

Kenneth Otto Carlson was born on February 23, 1934 to Walter and Leona (Kerkow) Carlson at his family home. Kenny attended the Northstar Country school, then Pine City High School. His first job was living on the family farm between Brook Park and Beroun, farming by hand and horses, no machinery!

He was drafted into the United States Army and served two years in Germany, then two more in the National Guard. After he was honorably discharged he went to work for Model Stone delivering concrete. He did this for 30 years.

Before retiring in 1991, he spent his weekdays with his cousin, living and working in the cities, weekends at the farm taking care of his parents. After retirement, he continued to take care of his folks.

Although Kenny had a shy personality and he wasn’t known for being outgoing, those who were close to him will miss him dearly.

Kenny is survived by his sister Phyllis Davidson of Mahtomedi; many nieces; nephews; special friend Mary Kay Bergstrom; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Leona Carlson; brothers Lester (Helen) Carlson, Maynard (Pat) Carlson; his companion cocker spaniel Corky.

Pastor Glen Kleppe will officiate at Kenny's funeral service: 11 AM; Monday, July 8, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church of Pine City. A gathering of family and friends is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will take place in Brook Park Cemetery, Brook Park, Minnesota.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City ~ Swanson Chapel
