Kevin Michael Thompson (aka "Q") was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 7, 1993. He was the son of Beverly Merrick and Cedric Thompson.
Q went to Roosevelt High School, finishing online. Q's teachers were amazed with his intelligence when it came to math.
He enjoyed playing football in school, but his favorite past time was going to the YMCA and playing basketball. He also loved roller skating, skateboarding and snowboarding.
Q was known for his big smile followed by quick sarcasm along with humor and jokes. He loved to go for long drives, and listen to his music and crime stories. During those rides he would make a pit stop to get his favorite foods. He loved to try new foods and he would ask, "Is it good enough to buy again, yes or no?"
He enjoyed his cars, shoes and hats. His favorite car was the Toyota Camry because they were easy to fix. He always had speakers, amps and subs in all his cars.
Q's view on life was eye-opening and he would be ready for conversation. He was not judgmental of anyone's life or situations. If anyone called him for advice, he would stay on the phone and listen until they were ready to hang up. Q wouldn't hesitate to help his friends when they called.
He was an awesome Dad to his sons, Kevin Jr. and Phoenix. He loved spending time with his boys by going to their favorite jumping places and parks. While at home, they would spend time playing video games or riding dirt bikes. He enjoyed watching his boys play outside. He liked working on his car with Juju. He would always say, "I love spending time with my boys."
Q had a positive outlook on his life even though he was battling Lupus and kidney failure. Sadly, he passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
Kevin leaves several family members to cherish his memory. He is survived by his parents Beverly Merrick and Cedric Thompson; sons Kevin Jr. and Phoenix; brothers David Merrick and Cedric Thompson; sisters Megan Merrick, Naomi Merrick and Jade Merrick; grandmother Marietta Merrick; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and dearest friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by brothers Hassan Mujahid, Jihad Merrick; grandfather Vincent Merrick.
Q's laughter and love of jokes will be missed tremendously. Q loved each and every one of you in his own special way.
