Laurel "Bud" Friedstrom of Stanchfield passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at GracePointe Crossing-Gables West in Cambridge at the age of 83. Bud was born in Rush Point, Minnesota, January 8, 1934, the youngest of four children to Charles and Eunice Friedstrom. He attended District 24 School near Rush Point and began farming with his parents at an early age. His career work would be in maintenance at Eaton Corporation while also farming. In 1967, Bud was married to Muriel Tillman and they lived in south Minneapolis until Bud's retirement from Eaton in the late 1990's. For a majority of their lives, Bud and Muriel owned and managed a resort at the Goose Lake Narrows on Goose Lake. They made many friendships over the years selling ice, tackle and renting out boats. Bud's kindness and generosity to his patrons was very obvious and appreciated by many over the years. Bud was very talented musically; playing accordion, organ and piano by ear. He most recently was learning to play guitar and violin. Bud also enjoyed collecting antique tractors, had a love for animals and listening to country music. Bud Friedstrom is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Eunice, his wife Muriel and two sisters Dorothy Pitchford and Verna Edberg. He is survived by his sister Joyce Lindstrom of Stanchfield, many nephews and nieces, family and friends. Rev. Dr. Vicki VanderVegt will officiate funeral services for Bud: 11 AM Tuesday (11/28/17) at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush Point. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church. Bud will be interred in the Calvary Lutheran church cemetery.
