LaVona Marlene Brackenbury

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, LaVona Brackenbury of Pine City, MN who was taken from us too soon on September 26, 2024, at the tender age of 83.

She was born on March 11, 1941 to Wilferd and Vera (Anton) Tilbury in Mankato, MN.

She brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind heart, radiant smile, and boundless curiosity. Though her time with us was brief, the depth of love and happiness she shared will forever remain in our hearts. Her greatest joys in life were family, friends, going to garage sales, hanging out at auctions and bumming around town!

LaVona is survived by her children Brian (Lorey) Brackenbury, Marlene (Mark) Nelles, and Matthew Brackenbury; many grandchildren Danielle Payne, Ryan Anderson, Jessi (Dustin) Petersen, Jammi (Wade) Petersen, Stephanie Brackenbury; sister Sandy Wegner; and brother Adrian Tilbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilferd and Vera Tilbury; husband Elmer Brackenbury; infant son Kenneth John Brackenbury; son LeRoy Brackenbury; and brother Rodney Tilbury. 

A service celebrating LaVona's precious life will be held: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM; Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City. where friends and family are invited to remember a life that, albeit short, was truly a gift to us all. Interment to follow at Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City. Following the burial, a light lunch will be served at the Pine City American Legion Post.
