Lawrence "Larry" Eldon Hemmer

Larry Hemmer, 84, of Rush City, Minnesota was called home on Friday, December 1, 2023.  He was born
December 12, 1938, to Francis and Evelyn (Scofield) Hemmer in Pine County. He lived most of his life in Rush City.

Larry met the love of his life, Margaret Resch, and they were married on October 4, 1958. They were blessed with six daughters.

Margaret and Larry bought their first home in Almelund, Minnesota in 1969.  They built a pole shed, converted it to a cattle barn, and in 1972 Larry became a full-time dairy farmer.  In 1978, they moved the farm to Rush City where Larry continued farming
until 1988.

After his farming days, Larry started a recycling business, Larry Hemmer Recycle, which he operated until 1996.

During his retirement, he built a log cabin in Ely, Minnesota.  He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and spending time with his grandkids.  He spent his last few years in White Pines memory care and died peacefully there. He will be missed.

Larry is survived by children Patricia Hemmer of Little Falls, Carol (Mike) Reinhart of Southlake, Texas, Rita (Frank) Watson of Pine City, Sharon (Tim) Carey of Arlington, Texas, Laura (Mark) Hennes of Hugo, and Kelly (Paul) Hemmer-Rondestvedt of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; sister Sandy McClain of Trade Lake, Wisconsin; brother David Hemmer (Barb) of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Evelyn Hemmer; wife Margaret; brothers Donald Hemmer, Harold Hemmer, and Robert Hemmer; sister Marjorie Heinrich; son-in-law Roger Holtzkamp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated; 11 AM Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the Mass. The interment will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Rush City. Lunch will be served in the church basement.

In lieu of flowers, Larry's family requests donations to the charity of your choice to both honor Larry and make a lasting difference.
