LuVerne “Bud” Simonson passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Northern Pines Assisted Living and Specialty Care Center in Pine City at the age of 87. He was born March 6, 1930 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Richard and Dena Simonson. He married Evelyn Ann Klar on June 26, 1954.Bud enjoyed wood working, working on cars, going to car shows , playing cards and caribbage. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino to spend time with family eating and playing.As many of you know he restored a 1931 Ford Model A and showed it in many car shows.He was awarded many trophies for his efforts. He also drove his 1965 Oldsmoblie convertible in area parades carrying the Princesses. Bud is survived by his wife Evelyn Simonson of Pine City; children Connie Simonson of Apple Valley, Carrie (Steve Bell) Simonson of Lindstrom, Candie Simonson of Grantburg, Wisconsin and Christie (John) Bloms of Albertville; 5 grandchildren; sister Delores (Ed) Hyngstrom of Maidenrock, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Dena Simonson; sisters Berdella “Byrdie” Steinke and Jeanette Axelson. Funeral services for LuVerne: 12 Noon; Wednesday (5/24/17) at Hustletown Community Church with a gathering of family and friends 2 hours prior to the service at the church.
