Margaret Pauline Plasek

Margaret Plasek passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at Sandstone Health Care in Sandstone at the age of 88.

Margaret Pauline (Fix) Plasek was born September 8, 1935 to John and Dorothy (Schnetter) Fix in Hinckley, Minnesota. She was the third youngest of 10 children.

She attended Hinckley schools through the eighth grade and then worked at a grocery store in Hinckley.

Margaret married John Plasek in 1958. They built a wonderful life together raising their four daughters and six sons on their dairy farm located east of Beroun. Margaret worked hard on the farm, with morning and evening milkings, keeping a huge garden, and making many, many delicious meals for her large family. She set an amazing example for her children. Margaret and John retired from farming in 2002 and moved to a townhome in Pine City.

Margaret was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beroun. The Church and her faith were very important to Margaret. She was very involved in parish activities, including leading the rosary. After retiring from dairy farming, Margaret and John would attend daily mass whenever possible. When John lost his mobility due to Parkinson’s disease, Margaret cared for him and was his primary caregiver until his death in 2015. Margaret moved to an assisted living facility in 2020 where she continued to model her faith by leading the rosary and coordinating communion for residents. She also showed her faith by giving generously to her churches and many charities.

Margaret enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables. She had a green thumb and seemed to be able to make any plant thrive.

Margaret is survived by her children Jeannette (Jim) Johnson of Isanti, Judy (Doug) Mattson of Rapid City, South Dakota, Diane (Jim) Kehn of Braham, Mary (Mike) Drazan, Joe (Tammy) Plasek, John (Jeanne) Plasek all of Pine City, Leonard (Teresa) Plasek of Hinckley, Ronald (Laurette) Plasek of Minneapolis, Gerald (Andrea) Plasek of Hinckley, Dale (Heidi) Plasek of Parkers Prairie; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; siblings Josephine Knutson of Apple Valley, Dorothy Vavra of LeCenter, sister-in-law Sharon Fix of Pine City; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Dorothy Fix; husband John Plasek; grandson Jackson Plasek; siblings Katherine Engels Schmidt, William Fix, Raymond Fix, John Fix, Mary Klar Davis, Regina Helmbrecht, Joe Fix.

Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret: 11 AM, Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at St, Joseph's Catholic Church in Beroun.  A time of visitation and reviewal 4:00-8:00 PM; Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City with 7:00 PM prayer service and Rosary, and visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Lunch will follow at the church. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Beroun.
