Margaret Schiburr passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 77.
She was born Margaret Mary Stevens on December 6, 1946, to Ervin “Bud” and Barbara Stevens Sr. and grew up in Rock Creek, MN. She graduated from Pine City High School in 1964. Following graduation, Margaret moved to the Twin Cities and attended college for fashion design for a brief time.
While working in retail, Margaret met Douglas Schiburr and the two were married on November 3, 1970. They had three children together, Christopher, Michael, and Jacqueline. Margaret and Doug moved to Rock Creek when their kids started elementary school and lived there until her passing.
Margaret worked at Dennis Kirk for many years before going back to college at Anoka Ramsey Community College for Medical Coding. She worked at Hennepin County Medical Center for 25 years before retiring.
Margaret had a love for animals, flowers, and her family. She loved spending time with her two grandsons Brett and Riley. She attended their school activities whenever she could and cheered them on at their sporting events.
Margaret is survived by her husband Douglas Schiburr of Rock Creek; son Christopher (Misty) Schiburr of Cambridge; daughter Jacqueline Cummings of Pine City; grandsons Brett Cummings and Riley Cummings of Pine City; brothers Ervin “Skip” (Nancy) Stevens Jr. of Rock Creek, Rodney (Debra) Stevens of Pine City, Dan (Barb) Stevens of Mora; cousin Marianne (Jeff) Peterson of Pine City; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Ervin and Barbara Stevens Sr.; son Michael Schiburr; and son-in-law Jeremy Cummings.
Monsignor Aleksander Suchan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret: 10:30 AM; Friday (10/25) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City. A time of visitation is planned from 6-8 PM; Thursday (10/24) at the Swanson Funeral Chapel and also one hour prior to the Mass in the St. Anthony Commons area at the church. The interment will take place in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Pine City.
